I miss her <3 I am really hoping to maybe visit her sometime soon :O)
ebcrafts25 asked: I have been wanting to go volunteer there for weeks! How does it work, do I just show up? What kind of things do the volunteers do? Also, where did you get your degree from, I am planning on getting my Bachelors in Marine Biology too :)
Hey :O) Anyone can volunteer at Marine Mammal Conservancy (no previous experience required!). As a volunteer, you sign up for a 4-hour shift that goes from 4am-8am, 8am-noon,noon-4pm, etc. We need volunteers 24/7 to help hold 300 in the water (to keep her blowhole above water, keep keep her dorsal fin wet, etc.). You need to be 18yrs or older to volunteer in the water and 16yrs and over to help with land duties. If you want to volunteer, sign up today by calling 305-451-4774. When you call they will provide you with more info on your shift, briefing, and what items you need to bring. Hope to see you there!!! It is definitely a once in a lifetime experience and MMC can not do this without their amazing volunteers <3
I received my B.S. in Marine Biology at Florida International University and I am starting my masters in Marine Mammal Science this Fall at University of Miami :O)

This week went pretty well :O) One day in particular was beyond amazing! Shelby (my amazing fish kitchen peep besides Hope) participated in so many sessions including feeding, E-Stem, Floating (300 is starting to float on her own :O), and canal swims. It was great to see our names so much on the food chart of the day <3 We also did blood work and even had a professional photographer take pictures of us during a feeding session! Since mid-week we also started to go on mini kayak adventures with Brent which is always nice in the Keys :O) I can tell you from experience that you can TOTALLY fit 4 people on a 2 person kayak ;) Yup, it happened :O) MMC also had a surprise visit from Becca, one of the awesome SeaWorld peeps. It was super nice seeing her again and catching up in canal swims in search of iguanas ;) Shelby and I also gave Alice aka Chum, one of MMC staff members, a thank you gift (purple and yellow-orange roses to plant in her garden) and card. She is such an genuine and thoughtful individual, we just had to do something special for her :O) She is also going to help me with creating my poster for IMATA…it is going to look GREAT!
Next week is the last week of my internship and I plan on rockin it ;O)
